Deutschsprachig

Talking in another idiom that isn't the native one, could be very difficult, specially, mastering it, like talking like a real British, or a North American, obviously that doesn't happen from one day to another, you have to spend too much time learning it, reading, listening and speaking it, so maybe it would take a year, two, three maybe more to sound like a native speaker, but in the meantime you would understand another idiom that was unknown for you. You will be able to understand films, books, games, everything that you wasn't able to decode.
Here at university, you have two options, going to English like another subject of the career, or taking it like a way to improve on your life, attending to classes and listening about what you can make if you understand how to speak clearly and fluent. It would help you to understand the papers, some texts that aren't on your native language, so here at university it would be more like a tool than a subject.

Making blogs makes me feel like if I'm writing an article or something, obviously, not very professional, but it's kinda of it, so if is there a word that isn't written well, its better to get mistaken here in our blogs than after making a paper.

So this part of English its like the easiest to correct, compared to listening and speaking, because these last ones are pretty difficult to improve, it's not like I'm going to read some books of how to speak, you have to practice it, like talking with other people, talking with native speakers that are interested on learning your language or talking alone, this last one its my favorite one, because I'm not afraid of speaking different types of whatever it comes to my mind, so I can create imaginary dialogs, but when I'm talking with other people, its different, hope in the future it would be more like my "mind dialogs", like when I'm going to my house, on the walk my mind starts to talk about everything, so these days talking on English its more like an entertainment for me.

Learning methods

Having an university life could be a little exhausting, if we consider all of the different subjects that one usually have all along the career, having some test, laboratories, etc. demanding a lot of time in the meanwhile; but all the subjects are accord to the main curriculum , some of them in the past were taken away from it, but, for me , would be awesome to have like Anatomy, but maybe it only helps like one semester and that's it, because there are other subjects like the derivatives of chemistry, the organic one, that last like all the career, until the 5 year.

God teaching on internet

All this maybe would be a bit hard to assimilate, which is the better subject to have ?, and all of them have their own evaluations, but in the typical way of, studying of the test, and then, how I don't have the subject for the next year, my mind doesn't have to remember it. But all the time spent on it, will be for nothing, maybe a good way of making some changes, its having like a constantly talk about the concepts, or writing about it, like weekly reports, making a constant recapitulation of the contents.

"Matrix"

But our university, makes a good work on it, like for example, on biology, we have the weekly seminaries, in which we have a conversation about the main theme, and then we discuss about it, but the other subjects are more in the traditional way of learning, the teacher making class an the students are listening, in a personal opinion, I like it. Or if the class isn't enough, watching a video on the internet about the subject, which is also a good way of learning. Maybe on the future the teaching activities will be different, like on the matrix film, when Neo implants like an usb on his head, and then he learns how to drive an helicopter. In a few seconds. The technology is on a constant advance.

Drugs

When I was a kid, my family and I used to live on a safe place, knowing all my neighbors next  to me, the guy in front of us, the family living two houses next, etc. But in 2005 approximately the store of the corner changed of owner, and a new person came, well, in short words, it was a drug dealer, so the locality started to change, the other people next to us picked up they things and went to another places to live, like in one or two years we were like 10 people living there, on our neighborhood. But the drug man was like a """friend""" of our family, because they had a kid, like 8 years old, so when my mom didn't have x thing on house, she went to they shop to buy it, and then she talked to the kid, every time she was on that shop.

I never knew about what kind of drugs he sold, and I never tried any type of drugs, but sometimes, when I passed in front of the shop, some guys were talking about cocaine, coca paste, and other drugs, all brought from Bolivia. The people near our house were emaciated people, they didn't know where they were living, talking to nothing, fighting with who knows, etc. Those people were constant clients, who knows in which level of addiction they were. Some friends say that commonly you get very silly, and start to laugh for almost every thing. There are benefits too, like with people that Marijuana helps their treatment, making them quieter

The knowledge on our career allows to make some weird chemicals, sometimes we will have to detect if a person is under the effects of drugs, etc. So our job will be like eternal, not in the derogatory way, that goes to the thought of every one, the society maybe will accept it like a way of "entertainment", or "medicine" maybe not, but for now, we can start of thinking about their pros and cons.

Full of knowledge

Taking a career presents different types of issues around the years of learning, the exams, projects, laboratories, etc; too many ways of having your mind in constant teaching. Around 6 years are the ones that a career takes, but in those years, the science (talking about the faculty) for sure will take some modifications on his theme, so with your actual knowledge maybe some new problems don't may be up to your resolution, because it's new to you or in a higher level. So there appears your new friends, the PhD degrees and masters.

With those programs you will be able to know more about the specific topic that you like, specific areas that you will focus your profession, laboratories, clinical way, cosmetic, etc; in my case, if my mind could reach all the subjects that the PhD degree and masters requires, I will take it for sure.

Your new friends
My focus have been always the clinical pharmacy, viewing clinical cases, trying to help in the better way possible the ones that are with health issues in hospitals. If my grades allow it, i would like to take it on our faculty, and if I can improve on it, make some modifications on the way of "taking the health" on Chile. And in which better way that the one of going to the traditional way, the teacher and it students. having more contact with teachers to learn more about the reality on Chile, trying to improve the healthcare system and get a better way to afford the country issues. Maybe it will take some years to upgrade it to a better system, because here in Chile we have less things that other "first world" countries, maybe a result of a wrong manage of resources.

Hopefully one day Chile will be a country with more technologies, but if we cant get to their levels, at least on quality life.

Uncertain destiny

Having a job have been always a way of getting money, on University you may pass like 6 years average, make some extra years for some post-grade tittles and then going to the world to become the professional that you want.

If I had a job, it'll be related to science, but in the "confidential" way, like government experiments, secret researches and something like that, but on Chile it's like impossible to be on jobs like that, but if I can make some movements from here to there, maybe I can work in something like that, but on the realistic way, not like on movies or series, making intergalactic portals or etc. But this is attenuated by my feelings of going outdoors.

Going into the wild
Going into the mountain, exploring new lakes, establishing some tents and laboratories right there; maybe this is more realistic than the other dream, and can be make on Chile as well so if some job proposition includes some field work and going to different countries, I'll be glad to help, even if the salary isn't as good as I expected, if I can have a good life whit it, no complains.

Making some weird stuff

The blend of chemistry and biology makes a perfect way of seeing the world, like making some new vegetables, proteins, etc. playing to be good, the dream of new scientist I suppose, so taking a specialisation on those areas will be great for me, I'm not sure about what to take, maybe on the next years my likes will be changed, but nowadays, I better keep on studying.

At 1:72 scale

Since I was 5 years old, me and my father were always looking for World War things, such as films, books, etc. but one of those gave me entertainment from my childhood until today. There was a shop on the corner of one street on the center of Iquique, it was named "Venecia" in which sold real models at a minimalism scale, like 48 times smaller than the real one, with small pieces that you can paint and then stick with each other to form the airplane, tank, etc.

Two airplane models 1:72 scale
There was me and my father temple's, like every weekend we went to it, buying different types of models, airplanes, tanks, ships, etc. But one day this shop closed, and became a jewelry shop, and there wasn't another place like that, were we could buy more of those lovely models. They were part of my childhood so I like them too much.

Later like on 6th grade, one friend of mine had some toys, named "Lego" one of my favourite hobbies nowadays, just one thing prevent me of buying those toys, the price, a mini-figure costs around 6.000 Chilean pesos, like 20 pieces, nothing more, but the big ones are just amazing, like "The big Ben",4163 pieces just to be assembled by yourself, so it's like you and the Lego, nothing more, it's like you are focused on this, like puzzles, another hobby that I like.
The Big Ben on lego

So hobbies makes me feel like I get of the world for a minute, or an hour, gives me fully distraction of the world, until I finish it, or the 50% of it. So I think that when I can buy airplane models, I will be happy again, because there is one shop on Santiago, that sells them, my new temple "Mirax" located on the Apumanque. I don't think that another hobby will be better than this ones, for me.

Going into the Caribean

Having some time to be relaxed is as beautiful as a good landscape, but if you mix the two parts mentioned before you have the best thing in which expend money, "The holidays". I didn't have too many travels on holidays, only a few on Chile, like going to Antofagasta, Santiago, Valdivia.

"La glorieta Tacneña"

But those where like when I was 7 years old, except or the first mentioned and some travels to Tacna, this one in particular is like the best way to get chubby, 'cause this city have too many restaurants, but they aren't expensive as someone can think, for 10 "soles" the main money of the country, you will enjoy a nice piece of corn with white cheese, such a pleasure for the palate.

But if I have to choose one of the trips that I like the best, is the study trip at December 4, the whole generation of the school travel to Camboriu for on week, it was literally the best trip that I never had, the first day was to relax, we arrived at 5 approx, and then we had a free afternoon, just to be with your best friends
In our room we where 4, but our was the center of the party, like 16 people at night, just to get fun, the following days we where visiting various places of the area, like Beto Carrero, which is the largest park on Latin America; there are many attractions for the visitors, but the one of the best is the free fall, one of the biggest on it category, with 100 m over the sea level this thing will transform an alpha male, into a baby with only viewing it from above.

The best day was the one in which we travel on a pirate ship, a travel around the coast with your mates makes the travel even better than it sounds at simply sight, music all the time, and a perfect view from the sea, makes this one the best thing that happened to me, but also in the mid of the journey they said to us that we will have some time to swim, and that was fantastic.

But nothing last forever, the final day we went to "Cristo Luz" a place which have, a restaurant, dance floor and a lookout on the top of the mountain. then we sit with our friends and have a dinner, then we go to the hotel, and in the next hours, we were on our city, trying to assimilate that we weren't on that magic place.

"Goodbye everyone"

The old continent

Films have always been one of the best ways of travelling to different places, the magic of visiting another country, another city, even another era, "The lord of the rings" was my motivation of creating a life plan, around the country in which this film was based, The middle earth, or may I say New Zealand.

This place is in a few words, a magical place, all the landscape makes me feel like like one of the characters of the movie, the mix between dirt, grass and snow is perfect, and surrounded by the immensity of the Pacific ocean. Travelling from Chile isn't hard as someone can think, 'cause airlines makes travels from Santiago to the three different airports on the country, they are: Auckland, Christchurch, and Wellington.

Tongariro National Park
When you are there you are free to feel like you are in the Middle earth, obviously, if you have the money enough to pay it, but lets be dreamers. If I have the money to travel to wherever I like, the first place that I may visit its the Tongariro National Park, a beautiful place that have precious lakes, the "Emerald lakes" well it's name explains alone. Another place that I would like to go its the Mount Cook, you can see it from distance with its 3.724 m from the sea level, the lake in front of the mount gives it an amazing postal of the landscape.

Making a new life on this country would be perfect, and if I had the money enough to bring my family with me it would be fantastic, a house for my parents on a peaceful city, and mine on a sort of center city, trying to be part of a, I don't know, a scientific research lab, obviously if the vacant for the job includes foreigner people, and of course, trying to have a good English to live there.

Smaller than yesterday

BIND-014
What means for a human, the Eiffel tower ?, the Empire state ? or even the Everest, well, those "things" are bigger than us like 150 times, except for the Everest, which is 4400 bigger than a human average (2 mts.). If you are having a dinner on the Eiffel tower, you are gonna see the people like little "things", points on your view. But, what see an ant when he is looking at us, well, we are like 285 times bigger than an ant, so we are the Eiffel tower for ants, but something called Nano particles are so much smaller than ants, those particles are so small, that you have to watch them with electrical microscopes, because them sizes are from 1 to 100 Nanometers. Those "things" are very used on medical treatments, like the one named BIND-014, which is used on cancer treatments, because it has a very promising use on anti-tumoral uses, or the gold Nano particles that are using the scientist Marcelo Kogan Bocian, a teacher from us faculty, his work is based on the capacity of gold to acquire a high amount of energy, which can be used on destroying tumoral cells. All this are related on the improvement of human health, detecting diseases at a young age is the dream, maybe this particles can make some issues on human body, but they are still on progress, so when they are ready, the secondary effects will be controlled.

The nano world is basically amazing, all the uses of the different technologies on the medical area, industrial one, etc. are wonderful, my father told about this theme and nowadays it still making me interested about it, maybe some people think about the impact on mankind, like, we are playing to be god, in the fact that we are regulating the human metabolism, but how many people lost friends, parents, sons, for those mortal diseases, the answer of the ethical problem is on us.

The limit of my entertainment

When I was on school, like on 12 grade, there were like 6 or 7 things that I had to study on this days, like language, english, biology, chemistry, physics, etc, but there was one of them that I "hated", and it was math, on those days our teacher was not the best on the world, but at least he tried to explain about the subject, so I had to appeal to people like Julioprofe and unicoos, they are youtubers that helps about math (unicoos teach other subjects but maths too) so, thanks them I passed math, but nowadays, there is a subject that I like the most, calculus introduction, or calculus shorter,
Unicoos

The subject is taught in my case by Orlando Campos, one of the 3 teaches of the subject on first year, the math that we are learning is the one that I like on school, polynomials, limits, functions, stuff like that. Calculate those things amuses me. The class is like the typical prototype of class, the teacher explains what we are learning, and then he makes a test about what we learn.

Julioprofe
In fact is't as difficult as the real calculus but is still being funny for me, I appreciate that the questions on the test are similar than what we see on class. The exercises seen whit the teacher are in our career context, like how many of one drug can we manage on a patient before it starts to make things bad on his body, on what time a group bacterium will arrive at 10000 of them, etc. One of the best things is that we are like 30 guys on the class, so you can always seat on the front line, and you can hear what the teacher says, this helps us on the career , because one day we will have a problem related with functions for example, and we are gonna know how to solve it.

Stole it from mankind

What about making electricity free ?, electric power by air ?, too many things related to electricity, the mysterious power that we pay nowadays every month, watching T.V ? making some toasted breads ?, maybe some of you have troubles with some plugs on your houses, those "things" that can make you become an instant human charcoal on Christmas

Nikola Tesla (39 years old)
Maybe you are thinking about the person that I'm implying, the young man from the Austrian empire, the man who could be more if the electricity companies and the wires one, didn't hide like almost 90% of his job. Nikola Tesla was born on the actual Croatia, on 10 of July of 1856, born on a little town named Smiljan, he passed like all his life dedicated to his different types of projects, the letal ray, a machine better called a gun that fires a bundle of micro particles to living entities to destroy them, like humans for example, the famous "Tesla coil", a resonant transformer, that create electric discharges, with a large range of meters, this make electric power with a high frequency. All this projects could be awesome on his days, but he had a potencial enemy, Thomas Alva Edison, the man that "stole" the inventions of Tesla and make it from his own propriety, like the alternate flowing of electricity, or the light bulb, it was a war between the two factions, one side is Nikola Tesla and the humanity, and in the other is Edison with companies, its like a eternal fight for the throne, but sadly for me or the mankind, all the experiments and reports of his man are kept in a safe, we will never know about those experiments that one day could be more than papers, this man made things that could change the history on 180°, maybe in the good way, or maybe not, who knows, the only thing is that they stole it from mankind.

One frame per line

Books and films are on a eternal fight in our society, because some people say that the books are better than movies, and the others says the opposite, but, when its better to see a movie instead of reading a book ?, well, in my case, I'm not an ultra fan of books so on school it was a "torture" for me reading those books so at most I can read a magazine, nothing more than that, but there's a book that can made me reflect about reading.

Well, it's not a book, but its as difficult as a book, "La noche boca arriba"I read this like 2 years ago on school so I remember some tips about it, well this story its no longer than 6 pages so you can read it if you want, the atmosphere of it its so confusing that makes you believe in two thing that can be; suspense books can make my day different or the week, or month...

But with films its different, I like almost all the genders, because the actors give the film the personality, and the script obviously. there are lot of movies that I like, but the one that I remember with all my heart its "La vida es bella" my father tell me about this movie on 12 grade and from there it makes me cry every time I see it, because there's no one on earth I think that can feel nothing with it, the script, the protagonist of it and the historic context make one of the best movies that I saw on my short life.

There are other films that I like too, well the majority of them are about WWII so action movies are my "favourite" type of genre, movies like Saving private Ryan, Joyeux Noël, etc. I'm not very keen on films but a good script can make wonders.

From history to a paper....

At school, I really liked about history, universal one, the second world war, the Roman empire, the "Gold era" of Greek, all those things were super interesting for me, well, now too, but on this time I saw many of the History channel documentaries, at morning, afternoon and early morning; and some of those historical facts were filmed or photographed, like the one I like the most.

"The man of the tank"
My father told me about this picture when I was a child, I dont remember about my reaction, but I think it was like "what is he doing?". This event was nearly the 90', to be more specific, on the 5 of july, of 1989, on the Popular Republic of China, at the Tiananmen square, on Beijing, this picture was taken by 3 photographers from the Beijing hotel, one day after the Chinese government started to suppress violently the democratic protests on China.

While the tanks started to move, this misterious man put himself in front of the tank column, the first tank tried to avoid the guy, but he moved to the direction of the tank, so after some attempts the tank driver showd himself and both of them started to talk, there are some speculations about what they talk, like "why you are here?", "go away, stop killing my people", but after some seconds a group of people moved away the man.

There are many assumptions about what the man was, like a young student, part from a secret group, but in spite of what he was, the courage to be rigth there, in front of the "Power of China" have to be really high to do that. That is why I like it, the power of the courage.

Relaxing sounds

When I was a child, like 7 or 8 years old, my father used to play music of his time, the kind of music that he listened on his university life, some of them are "Soda stereo", "Earth, wind and fire", "Kool and the gang", those are like his favourites groups, they mean more than words singed, so his love for the music began to influence me. Now I like some of the songs that he used to listen, like "Fantasy", "Cuando pase el temblor"; if some of these musics are played on the radio I don't change the channel, because this songs make me remember about those days when I was a child. On my music list I dont have this type of music, not because I dont like it, its like, I dont relax whit it.
I'm keen on very different style of music,      like classical one, indie rock, pop, latin rock, soul,   house, etc, I dont really dislike one type in  specific, well reggeaton maybe, but not at all, just  because I enjoy the english lyrics than the spanish  one, there are some music groups that I really like, "One republic" and the other is "Imagine dragons".

These are like my favourite groups, but there  are singers that I only like one song of them, this  happens with "The one" of the chainsmokers,  "Daddy issues" from the neighbourhood or  "Sleepsong" from Bastille.

If I can save money, I would buy a Piano, I really like playing it, the sound, the object, the finger movement, all of it except one thing, the price. I agree with the teacher, the soundtrack of the lord of the rings its just amazing, especially when the ring is on the scene. My father used to play it when he was younger, but then he sold it. My friends always, but always plays the guitar at the point that I started to hate it, but I dont really care about it, so I threat they saying that if they dont stop playing it, I will launch their guitars from the 7°th floor, the one that we are living on.

More than one life

When I was a child, like 6 years old, my father was working on a computer, and I was like watching him everyday he were doing it. Months passed before he decided to buy a new one, so for me it was like, "oh, maybe he is gonna give me the one that he is working on now and he is gonna use the new one", and well, it was like that. In those days I didn't know how to use a computer so one of my cousins bring me some games to install them on the new PC, one of the these games was "the emperador y sus locuras" the first game I played.

(My first game)

And at this moment I started playing on PC, the more valued device that I have on my life. My father was very interested about this games because on his childhood he didn't have a computer or something like that, so he was buying me more games for the PC, and it was like, "oh better for me", my childhood games were too much, all with those graphics like polygons, now most of the new games are more focused on realistic graphics.

(Venice from Assassins Creed II)
Nowadays I use my computer for all need, like studying, playing, cooking (watching tutorials of ow to make Chinese food), etc. I estimate that the use of my computer is the same as breathing, obviously I go out with my friends, I'm not nailed to my chair so I can move around the city; but the computer for me means more than a piece of metal, I've played lots of games that send me to other places like Venice, China, The Caribbean, places that one day I wanna visit (especially Venice). I've learned about too many historic things, world vision, ethical problems, and a lot of psychological things that if I didn't have my PC maybe my judgment of things would be another one.

Why did you choose your career?

Making decisions have always been a big problem on our lifes, when I was a child, I didn't think about "decisions" because I was a child of course, nothig really matters for me on that age so, my mind was only focused on games and food. aproximately at 8 years old I started to think on what would I like to be, medicine, builder, pilot, and well, more wierd stuff like astrounaut and paleontologist.

When I finished the 12°grade at school, there were four options that I liked, Medical technology, Pharmacy, Medicine and Marine Biology, well, medicine was like some points far away from my points so I said goodbye; after some internal meditations I finally decided to enter on Pharmacy, it mixes the helping part of medicine, and the research part of making new medicines. When I started the career at march, I was thinking about how it will be evolving through the years, but until now, I like it, always having atention about the new complications that can be presented on the years coming.

And in what kind of job I would like to be, well, all relationed with the heatlh area makes me feel happy, maybe working on a hospital, maybe serving on a pharmacy, or even if I can climb at the top, being the administrator of it.

Getting to know each other

Rubén Andrés Vélez Hernández....., have you ever heared that name ? I suppose you don't, so I will tell you some things about me. There is a man, and a woman that make my existence possible.

My father was born in Arica, the Nortest city on Chile, beautiful by the way; so after some years living on that city he travelled to Iquique to work on a printing house located on the center of the city, 4 years passed before my father meet my mother, she was born on Iquique, "land of champions" they use to say in the sport boom of the city, well another pretty place to visit if you have plans for some holidays.

It was the year 1999 when I appear on this world, on April exactly, so since this year I was living on that city, Im the only son of my parents, It's difficlut to say if it's good or not, but for me it's ok, more food for me. I studied on Academia Iquique all my life, before the university of course, after giving the PSU I start to study on university (Universidad de chile), its a very hard change that I make, leaving the desert behind and giving the welcome to a diferent landscape.

Its difficult to live on another city like 6 times bigger than your native was, but I dont care too much about that, trying to think positive all the time, and making some mockups about tanks and airplanes as a way to clear my mind.

             Have a nice day !!!
